Service Questions

Common questions about our forestry mulching, stump grinding, site prep, and land clearing services.

Forestry mulching clears standing vegetation — brush, saplings, and small trees — by grinding them into mulch in a single pass. Stump grinding specifically targets tree stumps left after felling, grinding them 4-6 inches below grade. Many projects benefit from both services: mulching clears the area, then stump grinding handles any remaining stumps.
With our Kubota SVL75 and Fecon Bullhog mulching head, we typically clear 1-3 acres per day depending on vegetation density, terrain, and access. Light brush may go faster; dense stands with larger trees take more time. We provide accurate timeline estimates with every quote.
We take care to minimize lawn impact. The grinder is positioned directly over each stump and the ground area immediately around it will be disturbed. We rake chips level and fill the hole so the area is ready for reseeding. Surrounding lawn is generally unaffected.
Absolutely. Selective clearing is one of our specialties. We routinely preserve mature hardwoods, ornamental trees, and specific landscape features while removing unwanted brush, invasives, and smaller trees. We mark keepers before starting and our operators work carefully around them.
Our Fecon Bullhog mulching head handles trees and brush up to approximately 6-8 inches in diameter. Larger trees may need to be felled first, then the stumps can be ground. Most residential overgrowth falls well within our mulching range.
Yes, with experienced operators. We regularly mulch within 10-15 feet of structures, fences, and landscaping. Our compact track loader offers precise control, and our operators are trained for close-quarter work. We always discuss buffer zones during the assessment.
Yes. Our site preparation service includes clearing, stump removal, and rough grading to prepare your property for the next phase — whether that's a new home, garage, driveway, or outbuilding. We work with your builder to meet their specifications.
The mulch stays on the ground as a natural protective layer. It prevents erosion, suppresses weed regrowth, and breaks down over time to enrich the soil. Most homeowners find the mulch attractive and functional. If you prefer mulch removed or redistributed, we can arrange that.
Yes. We provide driveway grading, pothole repair, washout repair, and drainage correction for rural and suburban properties. This service is especially popular in spring when mud season causes significant driveway damage.
Yes. Forestry mulching is one of the most effective methods for invasive species removal. Our mulching head removes the above-ground plant and much of the root system, then the mulch layer suppresses regrowth. We regularly eliminate Barberry, Multiflora Rose, Honeysuckle, and other Capital Region invasives.
