Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions Capital Region homeowners ask most about land clearing, pricing, timelines, and what to expect.

Forestry mulching is a land clearing method that uses a specialized machine to grind trees, brush, and vegetation into natural mulch in a single pass. The mulch stays on the ground as protective cover that prevents erosion and supports soil health. There's no burning, no hauling, and no need for multiple machines. It's ideal for residential properties because it's efficient, clean, and minimally invasive to your land.

The cost depends on project size, vegetation density, terrain, and services needed. Our minimum for land clearing projects is $1,600. Most residential projects — clearing a backyard, opening a building site, or reclaiming overgrown acreage — fall within a reasonable range, and we're always upfront about pricing before work begins. Stump grinding has a separate minimum. The fastest way to get a number is our 1-Minute Ballpark Quote — or request a Satellite Property Review for a more detailed assessment.

We offer two ways to start. The 1-Minute Ballpark Quote is a quick form that gives you a planning-level estimate — great if you're early in your decision or comparing options. The Satellite Property Review is a more detailed assessment where we analyze your property using satellite imagery to provide an accurate scope and price. Both are free, and we review most requests within 24 business hours.

Most residential projects — clearing 1 to 5 acres of brush and small trees — are completed in 1 to 3 days. Larger projects involving heavy timber, stump removal, or grading may take a week or more. We provide an estimated timeline with your quote so you know what to expect.

Permit requirements vary by municipality in New York State. Some towns require permits for tree removal or land disturbance above a certain threshold, while others don't. We recommend checking with your local town or building department. We're happy to help guide you through the process.

Traditional clearing involves cutting trees, bulldozing vegetation, and hauling debris off-site — it's disruptive, expensive, and can damage topsoil. Forestry mulching does everything in one pass: it grinds vegetation into mulch and leaves it in place. That means less soil disturbance, no hauling costs, faster completion, and a cleaner result. It's the preferred method for most residential projects.

Yes. One of the biggest advantages of forestry mulching is precision. We selectively clear brush and unwanted trees while leaving the trees and landscaping you want to keep completely untouched. Our operators are experienced at working carefully around existing property features.

With forestry mulching, vegetation is ground into fine mulch right on-site. The mulch stays on the ground as a natural layer that prevents erosion, suppresses weeds, and returns nutrients to the soil. There's no debris pile, no burning, and no mess. If you prefer mulch removed, we can arrange that too.

We review most quote requests within 24 business hours. Many projects can start with a fast ballpark quote or satellite property review. If an on-site visit is needed, we'll schedule the next available time based on project scope and field availability.
