1The Problem

A Saratoga Springs estate owner had a network of walking and riding trails through their wooded property that had become impassable over 5+ years of neglect. Downed trees, invasive understory, and unchecked growth had closed every trail on the property.

2Our Approach

Empire used satellite imagery to map existing trail routes and plan clearing corridors. Precision mulching reopened approximately 2 miles of trails through the property. Selective thinning along trail edges improved sight lines and created a park-like experience. All invasive species were mulched and the ground cover was left as a natural walking surface.

3The Result

Over 2 miles of private trails were restored, with 10-12 foot wide corridors, clean sight lines, and natural mulch surfaces. Invasive species were eliminated from trail corridors and the surrounding understory was selectively thinned.

Client Outcome

The estate owner described the result as "exactly what we envisioned when we bought the property." The trail system is now used daily for walking and horseback riding. The owner has since referred Empire to three neighboring property owners.
